The initial concept for Yachtsman was conceived aboard my sailboat, Spanish Pause, in Mandeville, Louisiana in the spring of 1995. Though undoubtedly fueled by our indulgence in a favorite alcoholic beverage, we recognized the strength of our plan and the uniqueness of our idea. Over the course of approximately one year, we refined our business plan and sought out exceptional formulas to acquire. However, our enthusiasm waned and the project was put on hold.

In October of 1999, inspiration struck once again, accompanied by a renewed determination. Leveraging my background in chemistry, I set out to create superb fragrances. Much to my surprise, my attempts predominantly resulted in highly effective insect repellents. While they may not have been failures in their own right, this experiment taught me a valuable lesson in the precision required for aromatic formulation. It became clear that further education was necessary to achieve my vision. Through dedicated learning, I honed my skills and witnessed a remarkable improvement in the quality of my creations.

By 2005, I had discovered a captivating theme for my new line of fragrances. As an ardent sailor, my voyages to captivating ports-of-call left an indelible mark on me – the beauty, the unhurried pace of life, and, of course, the enchanting scents of indigenous flowers and spices. These influences played a pivotal role in the development of each unique fragrance. With utmost confidence in the exceptional nature of my creations, I concluded that the time to introduce them to the market had arrived.

However, a significant hurdle presented itself in the form of Hurricane Katrina. This catastrophic event prompted a relocation and a fresh start. Now, in 2010, we proudly unveil the initial fleet of our line: Home Port, Cabo, Tobago, and Zanzibar. These four fragrances encapsulate the essence of our vision.
