Viktor & Rolf is a prominent Amsterdam-based fashion house, founded by Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren. These talented designers, both born in 1969, crossed paths while studying fashion at the esteemed Academy of the Arts in Arnhem. Noteworthy for their physical resemblance and unique fashion choices, the duo often captures attention by appearing in identical outfits after fashion shows or gracing the catwalk together.
Their fashion shows are nothing short of captivating, transforming into artistic displays that leave a lasting impression. Spectacles such as a single model donning multiple layers of couture gowns, using blue clothing as a “blue screen” for film projections, and models adorned with individual scaffolds accompanied by distinctive lights and music have cemented their reputation for creativity and innovation.
Viktor and Rolf boldly modeled their first menswear collection, “Monsieur,” personally changing outfits onstage to mesmerize press and guests. Their clothing collections consistently showcase their exceptional artistry and inventive designs, earning them the opportunity to exhibit their creations in renowned art museums around the world. Additionally, they’ve published a series of books and contributed their fashion expertise to theatrical productions, designing captivating costumes.
Considering their artistic endeavors, it comes as no surprise that Viktor and Rolf ventured into the realm of fragrances. The debut fragrance, Flowerbomb, was introduced in 2004, perfectly aligning with the women’s Spring/Summer 2005 fashion collection named after it. The distinctive “hand grenade” bottle design and meticulous gift-wrap packaging were carefully crafted by Viktor and Rolf themselves. Flowerbomb garnered tremendous success, leading to the release of various flankers and limited editions over the years. In 2006, they complemented their achievements with Antidote, their first fragrance for men, coinciding with the launch of their Monsieur line also named “Antidote.”
Their thought-provoking fragrance, Eau Mega, was unveiled in 2009, featuring innovative packaging that integrated the cap and sprayer into a single unit, accompanied by a round Viktor & Rolf seal for perfume dispensing. In 2012, they further expanded their fragrance collection with Spicebomb, catering exclusively to male consumers.
Throughout their journey, Viktor & Rolf have created an impressive collection of 98 perfumes. Their fragrances, crafted in collaboration with esteemed perfumers, such as Alienor Massenet, Pierre Wargnye, Carlos Benaim, Olivier Polge, Cecile Matton, and others, range from their earliest edition in 1996 to the most recent release in 2023.
