Victorio and Lucchino, a renowned Spanish duo, have forged a successful partnership by combining the talents of their founders José Victor Rodríguez Caro and José Luis Medina del Corral. Caro, hailing from Palma del Rio, Cordoba, was born in the 1950s. His creative vision draws inspiration from Parisian fashion and the influential French designers who have had a significant impact on the Spanish fashion industry, particularly through fashion magazines. In his youth, Caro worked as an assistant for various fashion companies, contributing to the preparation of their collections.
Del Corral, also born in the 1950s, is originally from Sevilla and had always known that his future lies in the fashion industry. He started his career at a company in Sevilla where he coincidentally met Caro, and the seeds of their partnership were planted. Within a few months, they took the bold step of establishing their own company, “Victorio y Lucchino.”
Drawing inspiration from their Andalusian roots, the hallmark of their brand is a distinctive Spanish flair. Having lived and worked in Andalusia, their creations reflect the vibrant Andalusian style. The essence of Andalusia lies in the harmonious coexistence of Catholics, Arabs, and Jews, resulting in a fusion of diverse customs, lifestyles, and religious practices. The colors, textures, and scents of this region have a profound influence on their design aesthetics.
Their creative process is strongly influenced by their surroundings. They draw inspiration from religious rituals, such as those associated with the Phoenician Goddesses of Estarta, whose jewelry incorporated elements like incense, myrrh, and amber. Spanish culture, particularly Spanish baroque, Carmen, and Hispano influences, also plays a significant role in shaping their fashion narrative. This unique blend of Mediterranean glamour resonates throughout their designs, emphasizing the duo’s affinity for diverse fashion details. In their own words, “The main ingredients we value are myrrh, geranium, and basil, and the blend of these elements evokes memories of streets, squares, and rivers adorned with stars.”
Their brand offers a wide range of collections, including jewelry, perfumes, men’s and women’s clothing, exquisite wedding dresses, men’s suits, footwear, watches, leather bags, and accessories, offering a comprehensive fashion experience. Each piece is meticulously crafted, adorned with lace, motifs, and ornate details on sleeves and collars.
Notably, they also cater to children with their dedicated children’s line, featuring clothing, bathing suits, sunglasses, and perfumes. In addition to their general fashion offerings, Victorio and Lucchino are also involved in haute couture, architecture, and interior design.
Their entry into the fragrance industry came in 1992 with the release of their first perfume, Carmen. Paying homage to Bizet’s famous opera Carmen, this fragrance captures the beautiful and passionate characteristics of the titular character. Described by the creators as temperamental and legendary, it exudes femininity and embodies the romantic essence of Spain.
Another notable perfume from their collection is Bambina, introduced in 2004, which features fresh and green notes. It opens with breezy accords of sweet mandarin, bergamot, and neroli, followed by floral waves of freesia and jasmine. The foundation of the fragrance is composed of cedar and sensual musk.
In October 2007, they presented HECHIZO, a fresh and floral fragrance with romantic undertones and an elegantly designed bottle. The designers revealed the inclusion of a provocative Bulgarian rose, adding to the enchanting allure of this perfume.
Among their other fragrances are Abril (1995), Agua de Rocio (2003), Luz (2002), Luz Novias, Sur (1998), V&L (2001), Flores Frescas (2005), and Hombre (2009). These esteemed creations from Victorio and Lucchino are available worldwide, with stores in major European capitals as well as Hong Kong, Japan, Kuwait, and the USA. They regularly showcase their fashion lines at prestigious events like the New York Fashion Coterie and Milan Milanovendemoda every season. The fragrance base of designer Victorio & Lucchino currently boasts 42 perfumes, with the earliest edition dating back to 1992 and the most recent release in 2022. Collaborating with esteemed perfumers such as Rosendo Mateu, Pierre Bourdon, Elisabeth Vidal, Alberto Morillas, Olivier Cresp, Fanny Bal, Claire Liegent, and Sonia Constant, Victorio & Lucchino continue to leave their mark on the world of fragrance.
