Tuvaché, a New York-based company founded in 1933 by Bernadine Angus, boasts a French name inspired by the character Madame Tuvaché from Gustave Flaubert’s renowned novel, Madame Bovary. Recognized for its exceptional Jungle Gardenia perfume, introduced in the same year, Tuvaché quickly gained acclaim. In the 1960s, the company changed hands and was acquired by the Swiss house Germaine Monteil. Subsequently, several companies, including Yardley, Jovan, Coty, and Evyan Perfumes, obtained the rights to the brand.
In 1999, Irma Shorell acquired the trademark for Tuvaché, and it is presently owned by Hypoluxe Inc. Throughout the 1970s, Tuvaché continued to captivate consumers with a successful series of perfumes. Building on this legacy, Hypoluxe Inc. began introducing new fragrances under the Tuvaché brand in 2012.
Among the Tuvaché fragrances, the most renowned and timeless is Jungle Gardenia, initially launched in 1933. This beloved feminine classic has attracted devoted fans over the years, and the scent formulation of this legendary fragrance, known as Tuvaché Gardenia 1933, remains available today.
Tuvaché, an esteemed perfume house, has a collection of six perfumes in its fragrance base. The earliest edition dates back to 1933, while the most recent addition debuted in 2013.
