The Perfumist is an esteemed Turkish perfume brand with a rich heritage spanning over 300 years. Originally crafting exquisite fragrances exclusively for kings and royalties in the Middle East, we have decided to extend our passion to the public. Every product we offer is meticulously crafted, utilizing only the finest natural ingredients that are both limited and incredibly rare.
For generations, our family has dedicated themselves to the art of perfumery, passing down the knowledge and expertise from father to son. In Arabic, a Perfumist, or a perfume maker, is known as an “Attar.” This vocation is considered one of the oldest, most demanding, and highly respected professions in existence. The origins of perfume making can be traced back to the Middle East, where it was perfected and esteemed by Arabs and Persians. Indeed, Islamic culture played a pivotal role in shaping the development of Western perfumery. The technique of steam distillation, crucial to the creation of perfumes, was adopted by the French from Arab traditions. Thus, the Western world’s profound indebtedness to two Arabic pioneers, Al-Kindi and Jābir ibn Hayyān, cannot be overstated.
We proudly align ourselves with this esteemed tradition, embodying not only the role of perfume makers and collectors but also serving as connoisseurs and purists in one of the world’s most ancient and sophisticated arts – perfumery.
Designer The Perfumist offers an exquisite collection of 22 perfumes in our fragrance base. As a relatively new fragrance brand, our earliest edition was created in 2018 and our latest addition debuted in 2020.
