Established in Algiers in 1893 by a skilled French doctor and chemist, the Cabanel company has dedicated itself to the art of crafting fine essences for colognes, as well as quintessences for “extraits de mouchoirs” and other esteemed fragrances such as Demoiselle de Paris, Frina, and Yasmina. The company’s success flourished, prompting Cabanel to relocate to Paris in 1908, opening its new headquarters in the Impasse du Cadran.
With its exceptional craftsmanship and exquisite scents, Cabanel soon caught the attention of prestigious clientele, including the esteemed Duchess of Windsor, who favored their perfumes. Cabanel’s loyal following extends to discerning private connoisseurs, pharmaceutical cooperatives, and independent pharmacists. Following the founder’s passing, his daughter embraced the true artisan tradition of a “Maître Parfumeur” and continued the legacy.
However, in the year 2000, after the demise of the founder’s daughter, the company faced challenges. The availability of alcohol in pharmacies dwindled, making it increasingly difficult to sell cologne essences. As a result, the company sold its premises and stored its products in a warehouse. Determined to uphold the esteemed reputation of Cabanel, Caroline Ilacqua (formerly Moncouqut) embarked on a journey into the history of fine perfumes, drawing inspiration from the company’s roots. Inheriting 150 perfume formulas, she embarked on a new concept.
The rebirth of the Teo Cabanel brand occurred in March 2005, led by Caroline Ilacqua, a talented and promising French woman born in Fontainebleau in 1981. The company’s headquarters are now located in Fontainebleau. At the young age of 22, Caroline embraced the challenge of creating and managing Teo Cabanel. Accompanying her on this olfactory journey is in-house perfumer Jean-François Latty, who embarked on his perfumery career in 1965. Deeply rooted in the traditions of French perfumery and dedicated to utilizing only the finest natural ingredients, Latty brings unparalleled expertise to the brand.
Within our fragrance base, Teo Cabanel offers a collection of 20 exquisite perfumes. The earliest edition was introduced in 2005, with the latest release in 2023. These captivating fragrances were brought to life through collaborations with esteemed perfumers Jean-Francois Latty, Cécile Zarokian, Patrice Revillard, and Marie Schnirer.
