Old Spice is a renowned and well-established American brand that specializes in fragrances and grooming products for men. Originally founded in 1934 by William Lightfoot Schultz, the brand was initially focused on creating grooming products for women. However, it was in 1938 when Old Spice introduced its line of products specifically tailored for men, that the brand gained immense recognition and popularity, becoming the flagship offering of the Shulton Company.
Old Spice’s iconic aftershave, presented in a distinctive opaque buoy-shaped bottle, and its shaving soap, adorned with a nautical logo, have become staples in the shelves of countless American husbands and fathers. For many men, these products served as their introduction to fragranced grooming essentials. The original Old Spice fragrance, to this day, remains a top seller in the market.
In 1988, Shulton introduced a refreshed version of the fragrance called Old Spice Fresh. Following the company’s acquisition by Proctor & Gamble in 1990, there have been subsequent updates to the logo and packaging. The fragrance is now known as “Old Spice Classic” and continues to be available in cologne and aftershave lotion forms. Additionally, the Old Spice brand has expanded its offerings to cater to a younger audience, introducing a range of updated fragrances and grooming products.
Within the fragrance base of the esteemed Shulton Company, a total of 16 perfumes have been crafted by renowned nose Albert Hauck. Having been established as an esteemed perfume house, the oldest fragrance dates back to 1937, with the latest creation being introduced in 2013.
