Sergio Tacchini, a renowned Italian designer, was born in 1938. His illustrious career as a professional tennis player laid the foundation for his innovative sportswear designs, tailored to the specific needs of athletes. Tacchini’s journey as a tennis player began at a young age of 17, and he went on to compete in prestigious matches in the Davis Cup. In 1960, he secured the Italian Champion title in the singles competition and emerged as one half of the Italian Champion duo in the doubles competition in 1967 and 1968.

While still an active player, Tacchini founded Sandys S.p.A., which would later be renamed Sergio Tacchini following his retirement from the professional tennis circuit. The brand’s concept centered around designing elegant and fashionable sportswear, a departure from the prevalent white attire favored by tennis players during that era. Tacchini’s tennis outfits quickly gained popularity among customers and athletes, leading the company to expand its product portfolio to cater to skiers, golfers, sailors, and fitness enthusiasts.

During its prime, Tacchini’s company sponsored numerous tennis players, including legends such as Jimmy Connors, Ilie Năstase, Mats Wilander, John McEnroe, Martina Navratilova, Sergi Bruguera, Pat Cash, Gabriela Sabatini, Pete Sampras, Martina Hingis, Dinara Safina, and many others.

In 2008, the company underwent a change in ownership when businessman Billy Ngok from Asia acquired it. Ngok’s leadership led to the establishment of approximately 100 Sergio Tacchini outlets worldwide by the end of 2011.

Expanding beyond sportswear, Sergio Tacchini ventured into the fragrance industry in 1987 with the release of Sergio Tacchini Homme. This fragrance features a harmonious blend of woody notes and citrus accords. Among other notable fragrances for men, Sport Ego stands out with its dominant green apple, bergamot, cardamom, cyclamen, water jasmine, vetiver, lily-of-the-valley, leather, amber, oakmoss, musk, and cedar notes. For women, the first fragrance, Sergio Tacchini Donna, was launched in 1988. This floral composition incorporates fruity, aquatic, and sweet notes, becoming one of the company’s best-selling fragrances.

In 2004, Stile Donna was introduced, boasting prominent cedar, sandalwood, magnolia, gardenia, saffron, and angelica notes. Its counterpart for men, Stile for men, was created as a warm and spicy fragrance by perfumer Karine Dubreuil.

The year 2011 witnessed three new fragrances by Sergio Tacchini. Blooming Flowers, a floral fragrance, combines gardenia, lilac, jasmine, lily of the valley, peony, and iris. O-Zone Pink Wave, a sporty scent for women, blends citruses, rose, cherry blossom, apple blossom, cedar, vanilla, jasmine, and tea. The men’s counterpart, O-Zone Green Wave, offers a refreshing combination of lemon, grass, red apple, bergamot, mandarin orange, cedar, vetiver, and green notes.

With a total of 40 perfumes in the fragrance base, Sergio Tacchini has collaborated with perfumers such as Christophe Raynaud, Nathalie Feisthauer, Karine Dubreuil-Sereni, Alexandra Carlin, Paolo Cerizza, Symrise, Claudine de Vogel, Delphine Lebeau, and Benoist Lapouza. The earliest fragrance edition dates back to 1987, while the most recent addition is from 2022.
