Roger & Gallet is a renowned French perfume house that dates back to 1862, when it was founded by Charles Armand Roger and Charles Martial Gallet. However, the origins of the company can be traced back even further. In 1806, Jean Marie Farina successfully established a business centered around supplying Eau de Cologne, using the original formula created by his great grand-uncle, Johann Maria Farina, in the 1700s. With the sale of his company’s catalog to Roger and Gallet in 1862, the pair began producing the beloved fragrance under the name Jean Marie Farina Extra Vieille (“extra-ancient”) Eau de Cologne. This iconic scent was available in various forms, including perfumed soaps and other scented products, which delighted both new and loyal Farina clientele. Since its inception, the fragrance has remained a staple in the Roger & Gallet catalog.
Roger & Gallet made a notable name for itself with its luxurious bath soaps, which first debuted in their signature round shape in 1879. This distinctive shape was complemented by the use of crinkled silk paper and a seal, elements that have stood the test of time and are still employed today. Embodying timeless elegance, the company has continued its tradition of creating fragrances crafted from rare plants and essential oils, packaged in a manner that pays homage to the Art Deco era. In addition to their fragrances, Roger & Gallet offers an extensive lineup of scented body products, candles, and a diverse range of scents for both men and women.
In 2008, Roger & Gallet became a part of the esteemed French cosmetics company, L’Oreal. With 62 perfumes in their fragrance base, Roger & Gallet has firmly established itself as a distinguished perfume house with a rich heritage.
