Prince Matchabelli is a renowned perfume house that was established in 1926 by the distinguished couple, Georges and Norina Matchabelli. Georges Matchabelli, a Georgian prince and former ambassador to Italy, joined forces with his wife Norina Gilli, an acclaimed Italian actress. Norina Gilli gained fame after her notable performance in the 1911 pantomime spectacle play, “The Miracle.” In pursuit of their dreams, the couple emigrated to the United States in 1926 and embarked on the journey of creating the esteemed perfume house, Prince Matchabelli.
Tragically, Georges Matchabelli passed away in 1935, leaving behind a remarkable legacy. In 1936, the house was acquired by perfumer Saul Ganz, who subsequently sold it to various owners over the years. Eventually, in 1987, the Anglo-Dutch company Unilever took ownership of Prince Matchabelli, enriching its heritage.
Prince Matchabelli has an impressive fragrance base, consisting of 21 exquisite perfumes. As an esteemed perfume house with a rich history, its earliest creation dates back to 1931, while the most recent addition entered the market in 2002. The brand’s longevity and commitment to exceptional quality have solidified its position as a timeless icon in the world of perfumery.
