Italian fashion house Prada was established by Mario Prada in 1913. Alongside his brother Martino, they established Fratelli Prada (Prada Brothers), a store specializing in leathergoods and luggage, located in Milan. Mario’s daughter, Luisa, succeeded him and later passed the reins to her daughter, Miuccia Prada, in 1978. Under Miuccia’s leadership, the company underwent significant transformations. Prada introduced its first totes and backpacks in 1979, which quickly gained popularity and became top-sellers. To expand its market presence, the company strategically placed its handbags in leading global retailers and opened a second boutique in Milan. In 1984, Prada added a line of footwear and, four years later, debuted its inaugural women’s collection in 1988. In 1992, Prada introduced Miu Miu, a high-fashion line for women, named after Miuccia’s nickname. The brand continued its expansion by launching a menswear line in 1993. In 2003, Prada introduced a set of exclusive “artisan fragrances,” which were available at its boutiques and select department stores. Each fragrance in this collection was crafted to showcase a single note, such as Iris, Orange Flower, Tuberose, Violet, and more. Prada expanded this line in 2007 and again in 2010. Prada’s first fragrance for the mass market, Prada Eau de Parfum, was released in 2004. In 2007, the brand introduced the Prada “Ephemeral Infusion” line, featuring some of the notes from the Prada Exclusive collection and employing more luxurious ingredients. This line made its debut with Infusion d’Iris. Prada collaborates with Puig to develop its fragrance offerings. Presently, the designer brand offers a collection of 92 perfumes, with the oldest originating in 1990 and the most recent release in 2023. Prada fragrances have been created in partnership with esteemed perfumers such as Daniela (Roche) Andrier, Nadège Le Garlantezec, Antoine Maisondieu, Shyamala Maisondieu, Anne Flipo, Carlos Benaim, Max Gavarry, and Clement Gavarry.
