The Porsche Design Group, known officially as Porsche Lizenz- und Handelsgesellschaft GmbH & Co. KG, is a majority-owned subsidiary of Porsche AG based in Stuttgart. Its headquarters are located in Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany. The company is renowned worldwide for its state-of-the-art men’s accessories, positioning itself as a leading luxury brand in this sector. With a particular focus on the latest technological advancements, Porsche Design prides itself on its functional, timeless, and puristic design aesthetic.
Porsche Design encompasses two main divisions: Porsche Design Studio in Zell am See, Austria, and Porsche Design Driver’s Selection. Its product range spans classic men’s accessories, watches, sunglasses, men’s fragrances, luggage, sports and fashion items, mobile phones, and home accessories.
Porsche Design products can be found exclusively in Porsche Design stores, shop-in-shops, prominent department stores, and luxury retail outlets. Its history traces back to 1972 when Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the grandson of the Porsche founder and designer of the Porsche 911, established the brand in Stuttgart. The company later relocated to Zell am See, Austria, in 1974.
Before the official founding of the Porsche Design brand, Porsche Selection manufactured accessories for Porsche sports cars. These accessories included luggage series, purses, T-shirts, calendars, model cars, and even tie pins and cufflinks, available at the “Porsche Boutique” from the 1950s. Porsche Design’s reputation grew within the automotive industry, particularly for its sports cars. In the following years, the brand expanded its offering for men by introducing top-quality accessories such as watches, eyeglasses, and writing utensils under the Porsche Design name. Additionally, the company also developed products for famous clients outside the automotive industry, such as industrial products, household appliances, and consumer goods.
The essence of Porsche Design lies in its clarity and functionality of form, along with its meticulous selection of materials and high-quality craftsmanship. The brand combines traditional artistry with contemporary technology, resulting in products that exude elegance and effectiveness.
In 1994, the merchandising division of Porsche AG was officially named “Porsche Selection,” later changing to “Porsche Design Driver’s Selection” in 2004. The brand entered the world of perfumes in 2008, launching a collection of elegant men’s fragrances. Porsche Design has since released three fragrances, all characterized by their simple and elegant style, featuring clean lines. The brand currently offers a range of 14 perfumes, created in collaboration with renowned perfumers such as Michel Almairac, Veronique Nyberg, Nicolas Beaulieu, Christian Plesch, Amandine Clerc-Marie, Bruno Jovanovic, and Anne Flipo.
