Paul & Joe is a prestigious French fashion and cosmetic brand that was established in 1995. Founded by Sophie Albou, the brand takes its name from her two sons. Sophie Albou, born in Paris, France in 1967, pursued her education in business at the University of Paris and technology at the Institute France de la Mode. She gained her initial professional experience working with fashion designer Azzedine Alaia. At the age of 26, Sophie embarked on a career as a full-time designer at her parents’ shirt brand, “La Garage”. In 1995, she went on to found Paul & Joe, initially focusing on menswear. The following year, she launched the first Paul & Joe womenswear line.

The core concept behind the brand’s fashion is “accessible luxury”. Inspired by the timeless styles of the 1920s and 30s, Paul & Joe’s designs offer a contemporary and innovative interpretation of retro fashion. The brand is known for its vibrant colors, feminine fabrics, and playful prints. Sophie Albou’s approach to design is articulated in her own words on the official website: “It’s about having fun. I don’t seek advice, I simply create things that I love.”

In 2001, Paul & Joe opened its first womenswear boutique on Rue des Saints Peres in Paris, followed by a men’s store on Rue du Four. In 2002, the brand expanded its offerings with the launch of a beauty and cosmetic line, embodying the brand’s signature “fun loving sophistication”. The Paul & Joe beauty line is described as lively, radiant, and individualistic. The brand continued to evolve, introducing a children’s fashion line in 2005, followed by a range of exquisite jewelry in 2006.

In 2003, Paul & Joe unveiled two feminine fragrances, Blanc and Bleu, which set the stage for the brand’s foray into perfumery. Today, Paul & Joe boasts a diverse fragrance collection, with a total of 5 perfumes in their fragrance base. The collaboration of talented perfumers Jean-Claude Ellena and Pierre Bourdon has resulted in captivating olfactory experiences within the Paul & Joe fragrance range. The earliest fragrance edition dates back to 2003, while the newest addition was introduced in 2015.
