The story of ORLANE began in 1946, under the name Parfums Jean d’Albret, when perfumer Jean d’Albret launched the company’s first fragrance, Ecusson. Encouraged by its success, the brand transitioned into producing beauty care products and changed its name to ORLANE. The name ORLANE was inspired by the character of the Duchess of Guermantes – Oriane – in Proust’s Remembrance of Things Past, symbolizing elegance, grace, and beauty.
In the late 1940s, ORLANE revolutionized the industry by introducing creams containing active ingredients and opened its first Institute in Paris. The brand’s innovative advertising policy included informative ads, featuring cross-section views of the skin, providing customers with valuable insights on skincare.
In 1966, the ORLANE Institute in Paris was established to not only serve as a beauty interpreter for clients but also as a training center for beauticians. With over 100 customers visiting daily, the Institute became a hub for developing treatments, devices, and techniques to accompany each new product.
A significant milestone for ORLANE was the launch of the B21 Cream, which celebrated the brand’s 21st anniversary. This revolutionary product contained amino acids and 21 active ingredients, symbolizing ORLANE’s commitment to innovation. Advertised with the eye-catching motto, “At 190 francs, it’s the most expensive cream in the world, but youth has no price! B21, the cream that erases time,” the B21 Cream paved the way for a range of anti-aging products that have made ORLANE a globally recognized specialist in this field.
In the early 1970s, the ORLANE Production and Research centers were relocated from Clichy to Orléans. Today, this is where the brand continues to design and test its products, ensuring the utmost quality and effectiveness.
Since 1985, ORLANE has been a part of a multinational, family-owned company, embracing continuous growth and innovation as its core principles. The company’s headquarters are situated at 12-14, Rond-Point des Champs-Elysées, in Paris’ 8th arrondissement, serving as a testament to its prestigious presence.
ORLANE’s dedication to excellence extends beyond skincare; the brand has also made substantial contributions to the world of fragrance.
