NŌSE perfumes brand returns to the essence of the “Russian spirit” and presents a reimagined narrative of fragrances that embody the essence of the country itself. Each bottle encapsulates a unique story, a fusion of coniferous forests and grassy meadows, freezing winters and comforting furs, vibrant summer gardens and May thunderstorms. These fragrances harbor the mysteries of a nation that many are familiar with but can never fully unravel.
The olfactory experiences of the perfumer, who hails from Russia, stand in stark contrast to the prevailing styles in global perfumery. From a young age, French perfumers were exposed to aromas vastly different from those that characterized our Russian upbringing. Lavender, neroli, and the briny ocean commingle with the scent of damp asphalt, the crispness of winter, and memories of our grandfathers’ Soviet-era cars. Coffee paired with croissants contrasts with herbal tea infused with honey and homemade pies enjoyed at the dacha. These juxtapositions are boundless, reflective of the divergent approaches to fragrance creation. We embarked on a pioneering journey, starting from scratch, to reshape the landscape of perfumery in Russia.
The pre-revolutionary era of Russian perfumery, once renowned and acclaimed worldwide, struggled through the difficult years of Soviet rule. However, it is imperative to acknowledge that 100 years have passed since Ernest Beaux, a Russian-born perfumer, emigrated to France and created the iconic Chanel No.5, the world’s best-selling fragrance. In our tireless pursuit, spanning nearly two years, we tirelessly researched and tested hundreds of essential oils, absolutes, natural isolates, CO2 extracts, and plant tinctures procured from different corners of the globe. Concurrently, we delved into the fascinating realm of synthetic molecules, now accessible beyond professional laboratories.
