Nanette Lepore, a highly regarded and exceptionally talented fashion designer, has become a prominent figure in the industry. Born and raised in Ohio, she embarked on her education in her hometown of Youngstown before venturing to New York to pursue her design studies and establish herself as a fashion designer. Determined to establish her own label, Lepore persuaded her father to provide a loan, enabling her to open a small boutique in New York’s garment district in 1992.
This boutique quickly gained attention from local artists and poets, fueling Lepore’s ambition to expand her brand. She subsequently opened another boutique in Los Angeles and began selling her collections to clients across Europe and Asia. The Nanette Lepore brand swiftly gained recognition and respect, but it was her partnership with Neiman Marcus that truly propelled her into the spotlight and caught the attention of notable celebrities.
Celebrities such as Eva Longoria, Kerry Washington, Jennifer Garner, America Ferrera, Aida Turturro, Illeana Douglas, and Lorraine Bracco are among the famous admirers of her designs. In 2007, Lepore collaborated with Keds to launch her first shoe collection, with actress Mischa Barton serving as the face of the marketing campaign.
Today, Nanette Lepore’s clothing lines are available in various renowned department stores throughout the United States, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s, and Neiman Marcus. Additionally, she has established standalone stores in Chicago, Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Washington DC, and her first European boutique in West London.
Beyond fashion, Lepore has left her mark in the world of fragrances. In 2004, she released her first self-titled fragrance, an enchanting floral-fruity blend featuring prominent notes of rose, cranberry, and violet. The following year, she unveiled Shanghai Butterfly, a women’s fragrance characterized by refreshing citruses, green apples, and soft floral accords. Love Bird, her third perfume, debuted in 2007, boasting a prominent floral heart. In 2009, Lepore introduced her fourth fragrance, a captivating fusion of oriental and floral notes featuring elements such as incense, red pepper, and violet. Her extensive fragrance portfolio comprises a total of 11 perfumes, created in collaboration with esteemed perfumers Anne Flipo and Gianni Mastrocola, with the latest addition being introduced in 2022.
