Missoni is a renowned Italian designer house known for its exquisite knitwear garments. Founded by Rosita and Ottavio Missoni, the brand remains a family-run business. Ottavio, originally from Ragusa in the Dalmatian coast, hails from a lineage of seafarers, with his father being the esteemed Sea Captain Vittorio Missoni and his mother, Teresa De Vidović, the Countess of Capocesto and Ragosniza.
The couple’s story began when they crossed paths at the 1948 Olympic Games in London. Ottavio, initially focused on creating sports suits, shifted gears after marrying Rosita and redirected their efforts toward producing exquisite knitwear dresses. Characterized by their vibrant color palette of yellows, reds, roses, and browns, Missoni’s multihued knitwear quickly became their signature.
In the 1980s, Missoni ventured into the world of fragrance, releasing their first line of perfumes. However, these original scents are no longer in production. In 2006, the brand collaborated with Estee Lauder to launch a new perfume, spearheaded by their talented granddaughter who now oversees the promotion and supervision of Missoni’s fragrance line.
Today, the Missoni fragrance collection boasts a staggering 17 perfumes, with the earliest edition dating back to 1981 and the newest release in 2020. These fragrances are the result of collaborations with esteemed perfumers such as Maurice Roucel, Trudi Loren, Quentin Bisch, Christophe Raynaud, Tristan Brando, and Enzo Galardi.
