Marc Jacobs is a highly accomplished American fashion designer, renowned for his contributions to the industry. Born in 1963, he demonstrated a passion for design from a young age. After completing his education at the High School of Art and Design in 1981, Jacobs continued his studies at the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York. His exceptional talent was recognized, securing him two Gold Thimble awards and the esteemed Design Student of the Year award during his time at Parsons.
Even as a student, Jacobs showcased his entrepreneurial spirit by designing and selling his own line of hand-knit sweaters. In 1986, he took a momentous step forward with the introduction of his inaugural collection under the Marc Jacobs label, in collaboration with Kashiyama USA Inc. This achievement garnered him the Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent, further solidifying his status as a rising star in the industry.
Building on his successes, Jacobs joined the Perry Ellis company in 1988. However, his creative vision eventually led him to establish the Marc Jacobs International Company in 1993, where he could fully express his distinctive approach to clothing design. Just a year later, the company debuted its first menswear collection.
In 1997, Jacobs embarked on a significant partnership with renowned luxury brand Louis Vuitton, assuming the role of creative director. During his tenure, he successfully launched Louis Vuitton’s first ready-to-wear collection, making a significant impact on the brand’s image and reputation. In addition to this esteemed collaboration, Jacobs also introduced the secondary line, Marc by Marc Jacobs, in 2001, presenting a fresh avenue for his creative expression.
Expanding his impressive portfolio, Jacobs ventured into the world of fragrances in 2001 through a collaboration with Coty. The inaugural scent in his fragrance line, Marc Jacobs for Women, captivated consumers and initiated a captivating series of scents. Notably, his popular women’s fragrance, Daisy, made its debut in 2007 and has since inspired a range of flankers. The success continued with the release of Lola, which achieved significant acclaim and prompted the creation of additional flankers and limited editions. Catering to the preferences of men, Jacobs introduced Bang in 2010, an exceptional fragrance that resonates with young male audiences.
Throughout his illustrious career, Marc Jacobs has amassed an impressive collection of fragrances, with 111 remarkable creations in our fragrance base. The earliest fragrance in his line was developed in 2001, while the latest addition hails from 2022. Collaborating with esteemed perfumers such as Jean Claude Delville, Ann Gottlieb, and Alberto Morillas, among others, Jacobs has consistently pushed the boundaries of scent creation.
