Louis Feraud

Louis Féraud, a celebrated French fashion designer and artist, made a significant impact on the industry throughout his career. In 1950, he established his first “Maison de Couture” in Cannes, followed by a couture house in Paris in 1955. Over the next decade, Féraud gained widespread recognition, dressing the Parisian elite and creating iconic wardrobes for Brigitte Bardot in her films. In 1958, he presented his first haute couture collection in Paris, marking a milestone in his career.

One of Féraud’s notable achievements came in 1970 when he secured a significant contract with Fink from Germany to launch a ladies’ prêt-à-porter (ready-to-wear) collection. In 1978 and 1984, he was honored with the prestigious “Golden Thimble Award” for his remarkable Spring/Summer Haute Couture Collections. Recognized for his contributions to fashion and design, Féraud was elected Prince de l’Art de Vivre in 1991 and later decorated as Officier de la Légion d’honneur by the French President in 1995.

Féraud’s passion for fashion also inspired his daughter to follow in his footsteps. In 1996, she debuted her first Haute Couture collection alongside her father. Tragically, in 1999, Louis Féraud passed away, and the Dutch group Secon acquired his eponymous brand. The year 2000 saw Yvan Mispelaere join the company as artistic director and present his inaugural Haute Couture fashion show in Paris. However, in 2002, the German Group ESCADA gained a 90% stake in the Féraud shares, and Yvan Mispelaere departed from the brand. Féraud then focused on ladies’ ready-to-wear, appointing Jean-Paul Knott as Creative Director.

In 2003, Féraud opened its flagship store in Paris, marking its global presence. The brand also ventured into the world of perfumery in 1982 with the introduction of Fantasque, its first fragrance for women. Since then, Féraud has continued to create captivating perfumes, with a total of eight fragrances for both men and women. The brand collaborated with renowned perfumers such as Nathalie Lorson, Ilias Ermenidis, Jean-Pierre Bethouart, and Sonia Constant to craft these distinctive scents. Louis Feraud’s fragrance collection comprises 24 perfumes, with the earliest edition dating back to 1965 and the newest being released in 2014. Its dedication to perfumery remains strong and continues to captivate fragrance enthusiasts worldwide.
