L’Erbolario is an esteemed Italian cosmetics company that derives its name from the ancient practice of erborare, which translates to “gathering herbs in the fields for the purpose of studying their beneficial properties.” Founded by Franco Bergamaschi and his wife Daniela Villa, a biologist and cosmetologist, the company initially began by exploring and refining family recipes for homemade beauty treatments through extensive experimentation, research, and distillation techniques. This dedication and passion led to the establishment of La Premiata Erboristeria Artigiana L’Erbolario in 1978, with the primary objective of crafting effective natural and plant-based cosmetics.
In 1984, L’Erbolario relocated its production facilities to a larger structure, allowing for the implementation of cutting-edge technologies in extracting new and advantageous ingredients from plants. These advancements significantly enhanced the performance of L’Erbolario cosmetics, thereby attracting a growing base of devoted customers. A significant milestone was achieved in 1994 with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art production plant. Nestled within the Parco Adda Sud, the new facility boasts architectural elements reminiscent of traditional farmhouses in the Lodi area and is surrounded by an expansive natural garden spanning nearly 200,000 square meters. Today, L’Erbolario prides itself on offering a diverse range of almost 400 products designed to address the specific needs of facial, body, and hair care.
The company has also garnered a reputation for its extensive collection of scented bath products and accompanying eaux de parfum, which predominantly feature nature-inspired fragrances and botanical essences. With 91 unique perfumes in its fragrance base, L’Erbolario has become a distinguished brand within the industry. Introduced in 2009 and continually expanding its offerings, L’Erbolario fragrances are crafted by the accomplished nose, Paolo Cerizza.
