L’Amande is a renowned Italian cosmetics brand that traces its roots back to the nineteenth century when it was a prominent brand under the ancient Marseilles soap making company, Garcin & Rabattu. Recognizing its increasing significance and the favorable reception from its clientele, the brand was officially registered at the Chamber of Commerce of Marseille in 1884, ultimately lending its name to the newly formed “Huilerie & Savonnerie de L’Amande.” This establishment would later become one of the most prominent soap factories during the golden age of Marseille soap making in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
In the 1950s, during a crucial phase of expansion, L’Amande expanded its reach and crossed the Alps, cementing its position as an authentic Italian brand. Alongside other minor brands of the FISAM (Italian Factory of the Savonnerie Amande of Marseille) based in Vallecrosia, Imperia, the company was established around three decades earlier with the specific purpose of producing and marketing L’Amande soaps in Italy and its colonies. Meanwhile, in Marseille, due to the devastating losses caused by World War II bombings, the Huilerie & Savonnerie de L’Amande ceased its operations, passing on all its original formulations, machinery, and customers to the Savona-based company, L’Amande Srl.
Our brand’s rich history, intricately woven into the fabric of the Mediterranean Sea region stretching from Genoa to Marseille, is an integral part of who we are and the products we create. We dedicate ourselves to utilizing only the finest oils, fragrances, and essences derived from our local land, each with unique olfactory and phytocosmetic properties. These include olive oil, often referred to as the Mediterranean’s “liquid gold,” and sweet almond oil, from which our brand draws its name. Other precious ingredients include the broom, strawberry tree, and typical blackberry plants that flourish in the Mediterranean maquis. Additionally, the honeysuckle and hawthorn, which grace the countryside with their enchanting fragrances, line the picturesque paths adorned with traditional dry stone walls. The pitosforo, now an integral part of the Riviera landscape, and numerous other botanical elements further contribute to the captivating perfumes and sensations that embody our region throughout the seasons.
At L’Amande, we take pride in our extensive collection of twenty perfumes in our fragrance base. As a relatively new fragrance brand, our earliest edition was introduced in 2015, with our latest creation unveiled in 2022.
