Jean Dessès

Jean Dessès (1904-1970) was a highly acclaimed couturier renowned for his exquisite draped dresses and gowns that drew inspiration from ancient Greek and Egyptian designs. Born to Greek parents in Egypt, Jean Dessès embarked on his career by securing employment at a prominent Parisian fashion house. In 1937, he established his own salon, marking the beginning of his remarkable journey in the world of fashion. With a clientele that included European royalty and the biggest film stars of his era, Dessès emerged as one of the leading designers from the 1940s through the 1960s. Eventually, he decided to retire from the fashion industry and relocated to Greece. Although Dessès bid farewell to his illustrious career, his designs found renewed popularity in the 1990s and early 21st century. Avidly sought after by celebrities for events such as the Academy Awards, his vintage gowns featuring classical draping held a timeless appeal. The fragrance collection of esteemed designer Jean Dessès features four distinct perfumes, making his fragrance house a longstanding presence within the industry. The inception of his earliest perfume dates back to 1938, while his most recent creation hails from 1962. The creative mind behind these fragrances is the esteemed perfumer, Paul Vacher.
