Jean Charles Brosseau, a renowned fashion designer hailing from Paris, France, made a name for himself by establishing his own perfume house at the young age of 25, following a successful graduation from a prominent fashion school in Paris in 1955.
In 1970, Brosseau opened a boutique on the esteemed Place des Victoires in Paris, a sought-after location for luxury fashion brands.
In 1978, Brosseau embarked on his journey to create unique fragrances. While experimenting with various scents, he stumbled upon a captivating mix of musky notes, vanilla, heliotrope, and rosewood that resonated with him. Intrigued by the composition, Brosseau declared it complete and introduced it to the world in 1981 as the iconic Ombre Rose perfume. Its debut took place at the esteemed New York department store, Bergdorf Goodman, and swiftly gained popularity among perfume enthusiasts in New York before becoming a worldwide bestseller.
Embodying aldehydes, peach, Brazilian rosewood, geranium, sandalwood, orris root, vetiver, ylang-ylang, lily-of-the-valley, cedar, rose, honey, orris, tonka bean, cinnamon, musk, vanilla, and heliotrope, Ombre Rose L’Original captures a harmonious symphony of scents.
In 1987, Brosseau introduced Ombre Bleu as a follow-up to the highly successful Ombre Rose. The fragrance featured notes of carnation, orange blossom, lily-of-the-valley, honey, lily, dried fruits, hawthorn, Egyptian jasmine, amber, musk, benzoin, vanilla, and cedar. Presented as a limited edition, Ombre Bleu proved to be a captivating addition to Brosseau’s portfolio.
Ombre D’Or, Brosseau’s third olfactory masterpiece, was created by the talented perfumer Natalie Lorson. It revolves around the essence of rose, ylang-ylang, and lily of the valley, creating a captivating and luxurious aroma.
After a hiatus of over a decade, Brosseau delighted fragrance enthusiasts in 2005 with multiple perfumes. Atlas Cedar, a complex fragrance for men boasting floral, woody, and musky accords, blended clementine, rhubarb, nutmeg, jasmine, cardamom, orris, sandalwood, amber, musk, and cedar.
Fruit de Bois, another captivating creation for men, envelops the olfactory senses with prominent notes of bergamot, grapefruit, clary sage, geranium, nutmeg, juniper, cedar, sandalwood, vetiver, and amber.
Thé Brun, the third masculine composition launched in 2005, exudes an aromatic fougère profile through its fusion of fruity notes, bergamot, orange blossom, lavender, violet, jasmine, caraway, musk, and Brazilian rosewood.
Since then, Brosseau has continued to introduce a range of fragrances for both men and women. With 21 perfumes in his fragrance base, Brosseau collaborates with esteemed perfumers such as Thomas Fontaine, Pierre Bourdon, Martine Pallix, Francoise Caron, and Nathalie Lorson to create scents that captivate and enthrall discerning fragrance enthusiasts worldwide. The earliest edition dates back to 1981, while the newest addition was unveiled in 2023.
