Our journey began when Blue Eagle, a traditional shaman of Abenaki, Algonquin, Pawnee, and French Canadian descent, sought to find an alternative to traditional smudging using sacred herbs. Inspired to create a smokeless solution using essential oils, he embarked on a trip to France, where he met Michel Roudnitska, the renowned perfumer behind Black Spice at Frédéric Malle Perfumes. With his newfound knowledge from Michel, Blue Eagle returned to Quebec and spent two years creating Invocation’s first Native Essence, CHIIYAAM. This natural perfume is made from essential oils and extracts derived from sixteen different plants. The therapeutic and shamanic properties of CHIIYAAM amazed Blue Eagle, as it proved to purify and harmonize electromagnetic fields more effectively than traditional smudging. Motivated by its power and efficiency, he was determined to make it accessible to all.
