The brand’s ventures into the world of perfumery commenced in 1951 with the creation of Eau d’Hermès, a masterpiece composed by renowned perfumer Edmond Roudnitska. In 1961, at the impetus of Jean-René Guerrand, son-in-law of Émile Hermès and founder of the fragrance division, perfumer Guy Robert crafted Calèche, the brand’s inaugural women’s perfume. Jean-Claude Ellena finds himself both the recipient and custodian of a rich genealogy, comprised of four distinctive olfactive territories: the Colognes, the Garden-Perfumes, the Novel-Perfumes, and the Hermessence collection.
