The renowned fashion house, Halston, was established during the vibrant 1970s, thanks to the creative vision of Roy Halston Frowick. Even as a child, Halston displayed his knack for fashion by crafting hats and modifying his mother’s and sister’s clothes. Emboldened by a newspaper article praising his hat designs, he opened his first shop in 1957.
In pursuit of greater opportunities, Halston relocated to New York that same year, where he honed his skills by working for various esteemed hat designers. Eventually, he ascended to the role of head milliner for Bergdorf Goodman, a position that not only solidified his reputation but also allowed him to adorn the likes of Hollywood icons such as Lauren Hutton, Elizabeth Taylor, Lauren Bacall, Bianca Jagger, and Liza Minelli with his creations.
Recognizing the financial potential of establishing his eponymous brand, Halston entered into a license agreement, thereby making his fashion accessible to women from all walks of life. In 1974, he introduced his first signature perfume, crafted in collaboration with renowned designer Elsa Peretti, who designed the elegant bottle.
The following year, Halston launched Halston Classic, the brand’s debut women’s fragrance. Exquisitely composed with rich chypre and floral notes, this scent quickly became a beloved favorite, with its popularity remaining steadfast for over three decades. In 1976, Halston expanded his fragrance line by introducing Halston 1-12, a distinctive fragrance for men.
After a brief hiatus from the world of perfumery, Halston returned in the 1980s with Halston 101 for men and Halston Couture for women, further enriching his olfactory offerings. Tragically, the world mourned the loss of Roy Halston Frowick in 1990, but his legacy lived on through the release of Unbound for women, followed by the introduction of a men’s version the subsequent year. In 2003 and 2004, Halston unveiled the captivating fragrance duo, Catalyst for women and Catalyst for men.
The year 2009 marked the debut of Halston Man and Halston Woman, a compelling fragrant pair that represented the third set of fragrances, each designed to capture the unique essence of both genders. A year later, the oriental fragrance, Woman Amber, with its delightful blend of sweet and ambery notes, joined the esteemed lineup. Currently, the esteemed designer brand boasts an impressive collection of 17 perfumes, crafted in collaboration with esteemed perfumers such as Ilias Ermenidis, Harry Fremont, Bernard Chant, Carlos Benaim, Vincent Marcello, Max Gavarry, and Patricia Bilodeau.
