Façonnable epitomizes the essence of the French Riviera, renowned for its captivating color palette, illustrious heritage, and unmistakable style. Established in 1950 by Jean Goldberg as a small bespoke tailor shop in Nice, France, the brand swiftly gained recognition, even crafting custom tuxedos and gowns for Hollywood celebrities attending the esteemed Cannes Film Festival on the Cote d’Azur. In a significant turning point for the company in 1961, it was acquired by Goldberg’s son, Albert, who renamed it Façonnable, derived from the word “Façonner,” meaning “to create.” Emphasizing the ready-to-wear segment, Albert initiated a period of rapid expansion, opening boutiques in eminent cities such as Monte Carlo, Cannes, Saint-Tropez, Lyon, Marseille, and Paris. The brand solidified its international presence in 1988 through an exclusive agreement with Nordstrom, leading to the opening of its inaugural boutique in New York. This was followed by the launch of two additional boutiques on the West Coast in Beverly Hills and Costa Mesa.
Recognizing the demand for women’s fashion, Façonnable expanded its offerings to include an extensive line of clothing and accessories for women. In 2000, the company underwent a change in ownership, first being acquired by Nordstrom Inc., and subsequently in late 2007, by the Lebanese private equity group M1 Group.
Intriguingly, in 2004, Façonnable ventured into the realm of perfumery, introducing a range of seven exquisite fragrances for both men and women. Renowned perfumers Nathalie Lorson, Gerard Anthony, and Karine Dubreuil-Sereni collaborated with the brand to create these olfactory masterpieces. With a remarkable collection of 12 perfumes, Façonnable remains an influential player in the world of fragrances. Spanning from the inaugural edition in 1994 to the latest creation in 2021, each fragrance embodies the brand’s timeless elegance and undeniable allure.
