Express is a prominent American fashion retailer that caters specifically to the young adult demographic. Founded in 1980 in Chicago, IL, the company initially operated under the name Limited Express. As part of the Limited Brands at the time, the store exclusively offered women’s fashion. However, in 1989, Express expanded its offerings with the introduction of a men’s line, which was eventually made available through separate stores called Structure. In 2001, both brands came together under the unified name Express. Currently, Golden Gate Capital holds majority ownership of the company. With a robust presence, Express operates more than 600 retail outlets across the United States. In addition to fashion, Express has established a fragrance line called Designer Express, which features five unique perfumes. The fragrance brand is relatively new, with the initial edition introduced in 2009 and the latest in 2016.
