Elizabeth Arden

Elizabeth Arden is a renowned American company that specializes in fragrance, skincare, and cosmetics. It was established in 1910 by Canadian entrepreneur Florence Nightingale Graham, who adopted the name Elizabeth Arden for both her professional identity and the brand. Originally, the company focused on skincare and cosmetics, making significant strides in the industry. They even launched their first Red Door spa in Manhattan, which quickly expanded to major cities worldwide as the company’s influence grew.

Elizabeth Arden was celebrated for her innovative approaches in the realm of women’s cosmetics. She introduced American women to eye makeup and pioneered the concept of the “makeover.” By 1934, the company had ventured into fragrances, debuting their inaugural scent, Blue Grass. Elizabeth Arden diligently led the company until her passing in 1966.

In the latter part of the 20th century, Elizabeth Arden changed hands multiple times before ultimately being acquired by FFI in 2003. FFI recognized the prestige carried by the Elizabeth Arden name and decided to adopt it as their own. Although the company continues to produce cosmetics and skincare products, their primary focus has shifted to fragrances. Elizabeth Arden has released an extensive range of scents under their own brand as well as collaborating with designers and celebrities.

The legacy of Elizabeth Arden lives on through the operating Red Door spas, which pay homage to an important chapter in the company’s history. In 1989, Elizabeth Arden launched the Red Door fragrance, serving as a tribute to this significant milestone. With 92 perfumes in their fragrance base, Elizabeth Arden remains an established perfume house. Their earliest scent was crafted in 1936, while the most recent addition to their collection is anticipated in 2023.

Elizabeth Arden’s fragrances bear the mark of esteemed perfumers, including Antoine Lie, Edmond Roudnitska, Claude Dir, Carlos Benaim, Loc Dong, Jean-Marc Chaillan, James Krivda, Sophia Grojsman, Ann Gottlieb, Olivier Gillotin, Marypierre Julien, Carlos ViƱals, Caroline Sabas, Clement Gavarry, Yann Vasnier, Francis Kurkdjian, Rodrigo Flores-Roux, Claire Cain, Laurent Bruyere, Sophie Labbe, David Apel, Laurent Le Guernec, Patricia Bilodeau, Guillaume Flavigny, and Gil Clavien.
