The inspiration for DoubleYou’s sense-exploring collaborative project was sparked during a journey through Tanzania and Zanzibar in Autumn 2009. Cathrine Røsseland, having grown up in the mountainous regions of Western Norway with her mother, always considered herself to be both Norwegian and African. Engaging with her African heritage, however, proved to be a challenging endeavor. It often felt as though she had to sacrifice elements of her Norwegian identity to make room for her African roots. To her surprise and delight, Cathrine discovered during her trip that there was space for more than just these two halves. By embracing her African side, she felt more whole as an individual, surpassing the concept of being merely complete and becoming double. It was this realization that inspired the birth of DoubleYou, a brand name that encapsulates this sense of duality.

As a fragrance brand, DoubleYou launched with two exceptional perfumes in 2010, both created by renowned nose Barnabe Fillion.
