Daddy Yankee, born Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez in 1977, is a renowned Puerto Rican reggaeton musician. From a young age, he immersed himself in the burgeoning underground rap movement that was taking shape in Puerto Rico. This musical phenomenon would later be recognized as reggaeton. In 1995, at the tender age of 18, he released his debut solo album, No Mercy. Following this, he formed a successful duo with Nicky Jam.

In 2000, Daddy Yankee redirected his focus towards his solo career once again, releasing the mix tape El Cartel, which was followed by El Cartel II in 2001. The release of his 2002 solo album, El Cangri.com, marked a significant milestone as it became the first album in his repertoire to achieve considerable success outside of Puerto Rico, reaching #43 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart.

Building on this newfound recognition, his subsequent album, Barrio Fino, produced by the acclaimed Luny Tunes, hit the shelves in 2004 and quickly gained popularity, selling over 500,000 copies in the United States alone. As a result of his exceptional achievements, Daddy Yankee earned numerous prestigious international music awards in 2005, solidifying his status as one of the most esteemed figures in the reggaeton genre. His chart-topping single, “Gasolina,” received nominations for both the Latin Grammy and MTV Video Music Awards that same year.

Continuing his streak of accolades, Daddy Yankee won the Latin Grammy Award for Best Urban Music Album in 2005 for “Barrio Fino.” A year later, he secured the MTV Video Music Award Latin America in the esteemed category of Artist of the Year.

His subsequent albums include El Cartel: The Big Boss, released by Interscope in 2007, Mundial in 2010, and Prestige, which made its debut in 2012.

Expanding his creative endeavors beyond music, Daddy Yankee ventured into the fragrance industry, licensing his scents to the Falic Fashion Group. The first fragrance for men was launched in 2008, followed by the female version, DYamante, in 2010. Daddy Yankee is also known for his work as a designer, boasting two fragrances within our fragrance base. The Daddy Yankee fragrance brand began in 2008, with the most recent addition to the line dating back to 2010.
