Custo Barcelona

Custo Dalmau, acclaimed as Custo Barcelona, is a distinguished Spanish designer who, alongside his brother, established their own fashion label specializing in clothes design, print, graphic design, and collections for both men and women in 1980. This year marks a successful collaboration between Custo Barcelona and Idesa Parfumes, a renowned Spanish brand known for presenting popular perfumes for brands such as Mandarina Duck, Angel Schlesser, Alejandro Sanz, Joaquín Cortés, and Anne Möller. Additionally, Idesa Parfumes serves as an exclusive distributor for Versace, Moschino, Dsquared2, and Salvatore Ferragamo’s perfumes in Spain.

The brand draws inspiration from the brothers’ extensive world travels, where they immersed themselves in diverse artistic, cultural, and philosophical expressions. Particularly, they were captivated by the typical Californian style sported by surfers and the mesmerizing psychedelic aesthetic. Fascinated by the colorful and innovative fashion trends, they resolved to bring this vibrant style back to Spain. Thus, the brand was launched under the name “Custo Line,” with the brothers gaining invaluable knowledge about printing techniques, finishings, and graphic design, which ultimately shaped their distinctive, bold, and innovative designs.

Their journey commenced with the production of printed tops, and gradually evolved to include all other clothing items, as well as fashion accessories and fragrances. In October 2008, the brand released its inaugural perfume, an exquisite creation for women that seamlessly combines elements of fashion, culture, travel, and enigmatic allure. Presented in creator Custo Barcelona’s signature style, this contemporary fragrance showcases a wide range of vivid colors and an unconventional, modernistic expression that demands attention.

Custo Barcelona perfume is a warm and sensual fragrance that evokes a sensory experience filled with spices, vitality, joy, and power. The woman who wears it embodies a cosmopolitan spirit, possesses an adventurous nature, and embraces unconventional styles of the future. For this exceptional perfume, Custo Dalmau – Custo Barcelona received the esteemed Glamour Award in the category of best women’s fragrance on May 20th, 2009.

The perfume’s bottle and packaging embody a modern and revolutionary aesthetic, as they incorporate a combination of various materials. The fusion of different structures and rough surfaces represents an innovative approach not typically seen in bottle and package production. The design of the new edition was entrusted to Pati Núñez and Toni Arola, who drew inspiration from the curves of Barcelona’s coastline, its impressive architecture, and the breathtaking sunset. The rough granite material serves as a reminder of Barcelona’s coastal beauty, while the glass reflects the liveliness of Custo Barcelona’s hometown, with the word “Custo” carved into pink glass. The bottle’s shape was conceived by young architects who envisioned the future of Barcelona in a strikingly modern manner, with the top of the bottle symbolizing the city’s avant-garde skyscrapers.

This avant-garde and exclusive seal, crafted by creator Custo Barcelona, showcases a harmonious fusion of diverse elements. In October 2009, Custo Barcelona introduced his first fragrance for men, Custo Men. Collaborating with esteemed perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, they created a sweet, sexy, optimistic, and spicy fragrance that perpetually marries elements of fashion, beauty, travel, culture, and mysterious secrets.

The flacon of the masculine edition, Custo Man, retains the theme of the previous year’s edition while combining various materials such as green glass and a metal board adorned with relief names. The stopper, designed to be eccentric, symbolizes a departure from conformity.

In 2010, the collection expanded with a fragrant pair for both men and women, named Pure Custo Barcelona Man and Pure Custo Barcelona Woman. These fragrances embody the concept of freedom and freshness, characterized by a pure spirit. They epitomize Pure Fashion and encapsulate Pure Innovation. The peacock featured on the packaging and in the ad campaign represents the very essence of the brand and the new perfumes. To date, designer Custo Barcelona has a collection of 9 perfumes in the brand’s fragrance base. Custo Barcelona is a fresh and contemporary fragrance brand, with its earliest edition originating in 2008 and the most recent release in 2014. These enticing fragrances were created in collaboration with esteemed perfumers Alberto Morillas, Francis Kurkdjian, and Daphné Bugey.
