Cynthia Ann “Cindy” Crawford was born in 1966 in Illinois, USA. Her journey into the world of modeling began unexpectedly when a newspaper photographer discovered her while she was working as a corn harvest helper. Intrigued by her looks, the photographer took her picture, which received positive feedback. Encouraged by the response, Cindy decided to explore the world of modeling.
At the age of 17, Cindy entered a modeling contest hosted by Elite Models Management and impressively finished in second place. Recognizing her potential, the same modeling agency signed her shortly after. Despite having won an academic scholarship and plans to study chemical engineering after high school, Cindy opted to focus on her flourishing modeling career and left university behind.
In 1986, after establishing herself in Chicago with renowned photographers, Cindy made the move to Manhattan, New York. She signed a contract with Elite New York and quickly became a household name. Alongside Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Tatjana Patitz, and Christy Turlington, Cindy unwittingly became one of the iconic supermodels of the 1980s and 1990s. Her photos graced countless magazine covers, and she was hailed as one of the most beautiful women in the world. Numerous globally successful enterprises, including Versace, Escada, Revlon, Maybelline, Clariol, and Omega, sought her as the face of their marketing campaigns.
Cindy’s popularity opened doors beyond the world of modeling. In the 1990s, she was sought after to star in music videos by renowned artists such as George Michael and Jon Bon Jovi. Capitalizing on her success, Cindy ventured into the fragrance industry by launching her own line. Embracing the opportunity, she introduced Cindy Crawford Feminine, a floral fragrance with prominent notes of water lily, gardenia, sandalwood, apple, amber, bergamot, and mahogany. Additionally, Cindy Crawford Joyful, a fruity-floral fragrance, was developed by esteemed perfumers from the renowned house of Givaudan. Subsequently, in 2002, Cindy successfully launched her self-titled fragrance, an intense floral composition centered around gardenia, freesia, and mimosa. Following on from this, 2006 saw the launch of Summer Day, an enticing fruity-floral composition built around strong bamboo, orchid accords, and aquatic nuances. Her most recent fragrance, Waterfalls, was introduced in 2005 and features a floral-aquatic blend of peony, jasmine, freesia, violet, citruses, and lotus.
With five perfumes in her fragrance base, Cindy Crawford has proven to be a multifaceted talent. Collaborating with esteemed perfumers Givaudan and Mark Buxton, Cindy designed a collection that encapsulates her style and personality. The earliest edition dates back to 2002, while the newest addition to the line was released in 2006.
