Chloé is a renowned French fashion house that was established by designer Gaby Aghion in 1952. Aghion, originally from Egypt, relocated to Paris in 1945 and introduced Chloé a few years later. Aghion is widely recognized for popularizing the fashion term and concept of “prêt-à-porter,” which refers to ready-to-wear clothing. In contrast to the formal and rigid made-to-measure garments offered by couture designers in the 1950s, Chloé opted to create comfortable, figure-flattering attire using luxurious fabrics, readily available for purchase “off the rack.” This approach was both revolutionary and influential, leaving a lasting impact on the fashion industry.

Aghion continued to contribute to the brand until its sale in 1985. Over the years, Chloé has attracted a series of acclaimed designers, including Karl Lagerfeld and Stella McCartney, who have lent their creativity to the label. In 2001, Chloé launched a more affordable line called See, targeting a younger demographic.

Chloé has also made a significant mark in the fragrance industry. The signature Chloé fragrance for women, bearing the same name, was introduced in 1975 and has since become a timeless feminine classic. Chloé Narcisse brought a sweeter twist to the brand in the 1990s. To appeal to young women with contemporary tastes, Chloé released a new version of its fragrance in 2008. Chloé collaborates with Coty to offer a range of captivating fragrances. Currently, the brand boasts 55 perfumes in its fragrance base, with the earliest edition dating back to 1975 and the most recent being from 2023.
