By Kilian is a prestigious perfume brand based in Paris, founded by Kilian Hennessy, the grandson of the esteemed LVMH group’s founder. Having grown up amidst the family’s renowned wine cellars in Cognac, Kilian Hennessy developed a deep appreciation for the art of scent. After completing his studies in communications and language studies, with a thesis exploring the semantic nuances of odors in the quest for a universal language connecting deities and humans, Kilian immersed himself in the world of perfumery. Under the guidance of celebrated perfumers, he refined his expertise and crafted exquisite fragrances for esteemed fashion houses.
In 2007, Kilian ventured to establish his own perfumery, upholding his family’s legacy of creating opulent luxury goods. The inaugural offering, the Collection L’oeuvre noire (“Black Masterpiece”), debuted in 2007, followed by the gradual addition of new fragrances each year. Today, the collection encompasses a remarkable selection of ten scents. In 2009, By Kilian introduced the Collection Arabian Nights, featuring oriental-inspired fragrances centered around oud, and distinguished by their unique and captivating packaging. Within this collection, Pure Oud made its grand entrance, later joined by two additional oud-based fragrances.
By Kilian places considerable emphasis on environmental consciousness and sustainability, exemplified through their refillable and reusable packaging. Moreover, the brand proudly shares the meticulously crafted formulas for each scent on their official website, enabling fragrance enthusiasts to delve deeper into the artistry behind each creation. Additionally, By Kilian has unveiled limited edition versions of several fragrances, adorned with luxurious and exquisite packaging. Expanding its repertoire further, the brand introduced evening handbags in 2011, complementing its olfactory offerings with elegant accessories.
