Suzanne de Lyon established the brand Animale in 1987. However, due to financial difficulties, the founder filed for bankruptcy in 1990, leading to the company’s acquisition by Parlux. In 2004, Parlux sold the brand to the Animale Group.
Animale’s first fragrance, simply named Animale, was launched with a unique blend of coriander, green notes, hyacinth, neroli, bergamot, Brazilian rosewood, honey, carnation, orris root, jasmine, ylang-ylang, lily-of-the-valley, rose, patchouli, musk, coconut, civet, oakmoss, and vetiver. Following this success, Animale for Men was introduced in 1993, featuring notes of freesia, citruses, neroli, juniper berries, lavender, geranium, leather, oakmoss, and vetiver.
Continuing their line of fragrances, Animale presented Animale Animale and Animale Animale for Men in 1994. The women’s fragrance was crafted around accords of freesia, peach, citruses, oakmoss, and bergamot. Meanwhile, the men’s scent encompassed nutmeg, honey, pineapple, lime, sandalwood, amber, patchouli, lavender, musk, galbanum, vanilla, jasmine, ylang-ylang, lily-of-the-valley, cedar, tobacco, rose, and lemon. These fragrances retained the same bottle shapes as their predecessors.
In 1997, Animale launched a limited edition fragrance called Instinct d’Animale. Unfortunately, it did not achieve significant commercial success.
The year 2000 brought another fragrant duo, Chaleur d’Animale and Chaleur d’Animale pour Homme. The women’s version boasted delightful notes of grapefruit, mandarin, cassis, burgundy, orchid, freesia, amber, musk, violet, lily of the valley, jasmine, rose, fruity accords, and green nuances. The men’s edition featured a blend of nutmeg, coriander, geranium, cardamom, sandalwood, tonka bean, amber, patchouli, musk, sage, mandarin orange, green leaves, and bergamot.
In 2005, Animale introduced Azul, a men’s fragrance with alluring floral, woody, and aquatic notes.
The most recent line from the Animale brand, Animale Temptation and Animale Temptation for Men, was unveiled in 2006. The feminine version combines jasmin, musk, sandalwood, pear, bergamot, vanilla, lily of the valley, gardenia, and jasmine. The men’s fragrance is characterized by a blend of cypress, musk, tonka bean, sandalwood, woody notes, nutmeg, lavender, and lemon. Animale is a renowned designer with 21 perfumes in their fragrance base. Their earliest creation dates back to 1987, with the newest launch in 2021. Throughout the years, Animale has collaborated with esteemed perfumers such as Steve DeMercado, Caroline Sabas, Loc Dong, and Michel Gouges.
