In 1983, Amouage, a luxury perfume house, was established in Oman under the patronage of the Sultan of Oman. Maintaining a commitment to the traditional perfume ingredients of the Middle East, such as agarwood, incense, musk, rose, and spices, Amouage collaborates with esteemed perfumers from leading fragrance and flavor companies to develop their exquisite scents.

The inaugural Amouage fragrance, initially known as Amouage, now recognized as Amouage Gold, was masterfully crafted by the renowned French perfumer Guy Robert in 1983. Renowned for his exceptional work with renowned brands like Hermes, Dior, and Rochas, Guy Robert demonstrated his supreme artistry through this creation.

Most Amouage perfumes are elegantly presented in distinctive bottles that possess symbolism. The feminine fragrances are housed in bottles that pay homage to the architectural beauty of the Palace Ruwi Mosque in Muskat, Oman. On the other hand, the masculine scents are encased in bottles crafted in the shape of the Khanjar, representing the traditional dagger of Oman.

Today, the design house of Amouage boasts an impressive collection of 126 perfumes, showcasing a rich heritage that began with the creation of the inaugural fragrance in 1983 and continues to evolve with the newest addition in 2023.
